Janice Swampillai

Janice was born and grew up near Colchester, Essex, UK and graduated from the University of London. She initially trained in Cardiology in the UK, including a postgraduate research degree (MD) from the University of Wales. Her advanced training in Cardiology was completed in New Zealand in 2012 (FRACP).
Janice’s subspecialty training includes Electrophysiology and Pacing fellowships at Waikato Hospital and St Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. She has a Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Electrophysiology (2013). She returned to New Zealand as a Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Waikato Hospital and Midland Cardio-Vascular Services in 2014.
Janice is interested in all heart rhythm problems and consults on all aspects of arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment. This includes diagnostic electrophysiology studies, and ablation of supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation (using cryo and/or radiofrequency ablation). She also implants pacemaker, defibrillator and resynchronisation devices. She has a special interest in ventricular arrhythmias.
